Approximately 20 years ago I found myself in a crisis – I had a young child and wanted another but couldn’t get pregnant. My Father had recently died, which devastated me, and my Mother was in the early stages of a Dementia. I had an extremely demanding and stressful career and I felt permanently exhausted, stressed and ‘time poor’, constantly feeling I wasn’t a good enough Mother and wasn’t able to give my Job enough attention either. I also experienced a number of increasingly debilitating physical symptoms which no one seemed to be able to make sense of. Eventually I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and put on medication. Whilst I did experience some small improvements, the meds didn’t really help enough of my symptoms – I longed to get back to my ‘real self’, I definitely didn’t feel 100%.
Finally a concerned friend told me about a local Homeopath who had helped her and thinking I had nothing to lose, I made an appointment. At the first consultation, for the first time in years, I felt really listened to and heard, I was given the space to explore all the reasons that had contributed to my ill health and understand what I needed to change to ensure that it didn’t happen again. After just a few days of taking the prescribed remedies, I felt transformed – my energy returned, I didn’t feel exhausted anymore which gave me greater patience and peace with my family and my work colleagues.
In time, I slept better and for less time, I lost weight and most importantly I started to process all the emotions around both my parents. I recognised that, whilst I was very good at my job I didn’t enjoy it anymore. I wanted to spend more time with my children and it was making me unhappy not to. My Homeopath also helped my child as well as other family members and I was hooked! After I got pregnant again and remedies helped me through my pregnancy and the birth, as well as the death of my Mother, I decided to enroll in a 4 year training programme to become a Homeopathic Practitioner. My husband and I made a plan for me to leave my job and for us to move to Ireland so we could spend more and better quality time together as a family as well as be close to my in-laws.
So here I am after 14 years in Ireland in County Kerry, practicing and teaching Homeopathy which I love and living a balanced and healthy life (well most of the time anyway!).
Homeopathy changed my life in so many ways – it helped me on a physical, emotional and spiritual level, without it I would not be the person I am today.
I work with a variety of people & I have a particular interest in working with busy women who, as I used to, struggle with the demands of being a busy parent & want to manage their own and their children’s health-care needs, holistically and effectively. I am passionate about making Homeopathy as ‘user-friendly’ and accessible as possible and would love to see Homeopathy included in all Home ‘First Aid’ kits, as well as it being a choice for long term/Chronic Health-care.
